Academics

Kanata Academy is an independent day school. The curriculum meets and enhances the Ministry of Education Curriculum Guidelines.  Experienced certified teachers creatively enrich the programs through math, language, art, music, drama, science, French and computers. A low student to teacher ratio provides your child with an optimum learning environment.

Social and Emotional Growth Opportunities

Emotional and social needs of each student are treated with equal importance for developmental growth. Helping to establish self-confidence and a sense of responsibility are two of Kanata Academy's goals. The staff at Kanata Academy provide your child with the opportunity to develop an awareness of his or her surroundings and to develop his or her individual personality. Each child is encouraged to communicate with the teacher, and to share and participate democratically with peers.

Physical Growth Opportunities

Physical awareness and development are encouraged through activities such as swimming, gymnastics, skating, tennis, hiking and outdoor play. Many activities involve professional instruction. Within the classroom, the children are exposed to dance, rhythms and drama. Students work with a variety of arts and crafts media in order to develop fine motor control.

The Whole Child

A variety of activities is offered to enhance growth and the love of learning. Themes related to the child's environment are pursued in conjunction with the skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking.  Motivation developed at an early age will enable the child to pursue learning throughout his or her personal development and school life.
